For almost 15 years after graduation from the University, I became an international flight attendant. It was my desire to fly everywhere, and I did. Once when I was furloughed I sold my Mustang and went to Caracas, Venezuela, to study Spanish. Right now I still work. Currently, I am in sales with government contracts. For many years I was involved with a company that did tax liens, tax deeds, and foreclosures. I try to work out at the gym to keep the old carcass active. I live on Ben Lomond Mountain in North Ogden, Utah.
I only discovered two weeks ago that my high school flame, George Fune, had passed away on March 21st of this year. We communicated through calls and texts over the years and I went to visit his mom and granny until their passing. His last text to me was on February 15th, just a few days before his birthday on February 18th. At the time, I was so wrapped up in work I didn't see the text and for the first time in years, I forgot his birthday. On March 11th I was texting him info and videos of what San Francisco had become. We spent many week ends in San Francisco as teens together. Suddenly I realized I had forgotten his birthday, and I apologized for that. He saw that text on St Paddy's day March 17th, but never responded. He passed on on March 21st, but I had no idea. I was even sending angry messages that he was not responding. Finally, I googled his name, "GEORGE THOMAS FUNE", and to my horror, an obituary pulled up. His death hit me harder than I would have imagined, but he had never mentioned being ill. His immediate family never posted an obituary or had a memorial service. It was his sister, Ray Ann Fune, who posted the obit. It crushed me that loving and sensitive George was not even honored with people paying their respects. Those who knew George, please go to the obituary that his sister Ray Ann created, and post your fond memories. He was a wonderful man and deserves to be honored after his passing. https://neptunesociety.com/obituaries/tempe-az/george-fune-11722947 For those who were family friends, his sister, Ray Ann Fune Sullivan, lives in Vacaville and would appreciate a call.
