Paul ‘Mo’ McNally

Mr. Paul ‘Mo’ Morris McNally of Vacaville, California, born on Oct. 29, 1946, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to the late Genevieve (McFadden) McNally and the late William ‘Bill’ McNally, passed away at age 71 on Aug. 13, 2018, in Vancouver, Washington.

Paul graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. After graduation as an Eagle Scout with a degree in physical education, Paul worked as a science teacher at Fairfield High School in Fairfield, California. Paul coached basketball, water polo and swimming. He then worked a few years in Richland, Washington, as a Chem Tech at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation with his brother, Dale Wayne. He later worked at the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory as a computer security technician.

His son Sean was born in California, daughter Sonia was born in Washington, and his second son Dale Morris was born in Oregon.

Paul taught PE and coached wrestling at the Springstowne Middle School in Vallejo. He loved basketball so much he started a ‘National Junior Basketball’ program in Vallejo for kids of all ages. He started the same program in Fairfield and Vacaville. He also started the Jump Rope for Heart program in Vallejo. He coached Varsity Girls Basketball at Vallejo High School and was named “Coach of the Year.”

Paul loved pitching horseshoes, sporting events, horse racing and Texas Hold ’Em poker.

Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia (Doolittle) McNally; sons, Sean William and Dale Morris McNally; daughter, Sonia Lynn McNally; brother, Dale Wayne McNally; sister, Sheryl (McNally) Gravel; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Sarah and Connor Ryan McNally.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred ‘Flash’ Lavett; brothers, Larry and Everett McNally.

Those who wish may donate in Paul’s name to a local Boy Scouts of America Troop or to the Gideons for Bible distributions.

Friends and family can pay their respects at the celebration of life service, officiated by the Rev. Ernest Jackson, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 1127 Davis St., Vacaville, California.
